Frequently asked questions (FAQ) For Solar Panel
Below is a list of frequently asked questions about solar for residential and commercial use. Do you have additional questions not answered below please contact us directly.
What is PV (Photovoltaics)?
Photovoltaics (PV) are solar cells that convert sunlight into electricity. They are made of semiconductors, which absorb sunlight and allow electrons to flow through to produce electricity. This process is called photovoltaic effect – simply means the conversion of sunlight – photons to electricity – voltage.
Why should I use solar energy?
It is safe, renewable and sustainable. Solar panels will provide you with sustainable electricity without toxic emission. The solar system generates electricity from the sun’s energy with minimal costs. You will save more on your energy/electricity bills and you will be less susceptible to power outage or high electricity costs.
What size of solar energy system do I need?
This depends on how much electricity you use in your commercial or residential property, how much you would like to invest or the size of your roof. We can help you determine the type and size of the solar energy system suitable for your property. Contact us today!
Is my residential property suitable for solar?
Almost every building with a roof placed in an appropriate direction is suitable for solar. However, no matter where your roof is facing, we can install our systems to fit the suitable direction. For buildings with no suitable roofs, we can fit the system on the floor – on a hard standing area or in a garden.
How long will it take Eclipse to install my solar system?
For residential buildings, a solar installation can take more than two days. We usually work on the roof first before connecting the solar supply within your building. For commercial properties, it varies. However, we always inform our clients exactly what they should expect from us for their solar panel installations.
Is it possible to integrate your solar system with my current supply set-up?
Yes, it is possible. Our solar technologies can be installed in both new and existing buildings. Our process is quite simple, open and direct. We normally survey properties and provide full assessment before carrying out the solar installations and applying changes to your electrical system.
After installing the solar panel, will my appliances work or will I need to replace them?
No, you will not need to replace your appliances. Everything will work as they have always worked. Your power inverter will convert the electricity from the solar panel, which is DC electricity to the AC electricity you normally use in your home. The only thing that will change is the high energy costs and bills. You won’t need to pay as much as you used to pay for using your appliances.
How long will the electricity from solar systems last?
After installation, your solar system can last for more than 30 years if properly maintained.
What happens when the weather is bad, will the solar system work?
Bad weather can affect the power output of your solar system but it will continue to provide your property with electricity.
